35 Years of Heritage Minutes
Siobhan Williams Reflects on the Acadian Deportation
For Siobhan Williams, the Acadian Deportation Heritage Minute hits close to home.
With family ties to Nova Scotia’s Annapolis Valley, Siobhan grew up learning about the history of the region and the Acadian story. She sat down with us to reflect on why the story of the Deportation remains important, and what Heritage Minutes can teach us about both the past and the Canada we’re building today.
In 2026, we’re celebrating 35 years of the Heritage Minutes with Canadians reflecting on the stories that continue to shape our understanding of the country. Join us each week as we explore Canada’s history — minute by minute.
