In Memoriam: Lynton (Red) Wilson
On behalf of Historica Canada, I wish to express our sadness at the passing of our co-founder and Board member Lynton (Red) Wilson on Monday, Feb. 9 at the age of 85.
Red, as he was universally known, lived an extraordinary life of great accomplishments in business, government and the non-profit sector. While others will take note of his achievements in other sectors, we at Historica are especially mindful of his great devotion to the importance of education, awareness of our country’s history and achievements and, by extension, his overall love of Canada. With Charles Bronfman, he founded our organization in 1999 and remained a steadfast supporter, donor and trusted source of counsel on our Board. He similarly supported related causes and organizations, including the Canadian Business History Association, and, perhaps most notably, McMaster University, where, among his many contributions, a new college devoted appropriately to leadership bears his name. Like others who knew him, we will miss Red on a personal level for his warmth, humour, and passionate sense of commitment.
On behalf of the Historica Canada Board of Directors and the entire organization, we extend our sympathies to his wife Brenda, their children and grandchildren.
