Jeffrey L. Orridge, a graduate of Harvard Law School and Amherst College, is a highly regarded corporate and community leader with global experience building teams, brands, and businesses with sports, entertainment, media, technology, consumer products and non-profit organizations in the U.S. and Canada.
Currently the Chair of the Board for a leading Canadian eSports organization, Mr. Orridge has held senior leadership positions with some of Canada’s most iconic brands, such as the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, the Canadian Football League, and Canadian Tire Corporation as well as U.S. Fortune 500 companies including Reebok, Mattel, and Warner Brothers. Having served as the first black Commissioner of any major professional sports league in North America, under his transformative stewardship, the CFL was successfully re-branded, launched new digital and social media platforms, increased corporate sponsorship revenues, and grew youth and female audiences.
Prior to joining the CFL, Mr. Orridge was the Executive Director of CBC Sports and General Manager, Olympics. While leading to sports department at the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, he successfully secured the media rights to four (4) Olympic Games, the 2015 Pan Am Games, and oversaw the 2014 FIFA World Cup. Recruited to Canada to work for Right to Play Int’l, a global humanitarian organization working in more than 20 of some of the world’s most disadvantaged communities, he held positions of Chief Operating Officer and Head Global Business Development during his tenure.
Having begun his career in the U.S., Mr. Orridge served as the first-ever General Counsel for USA Basketball, heading up legal and business affairs for the first U.S. Olympic “Dream Team,” which received the 1992 Sports Marketer of the Year award. Mr. Orridge has been the recipient of the ‘African Canadian Achievement Award for Excellence in Sports”, Historica Canada’s “Trailblazer Award”, the Black Entertainment and Sports Lawyers Assn.‘ Beacon of Industry Award’, and the National Bar Association ‘ Sports Attorney of the Year’ Award. He proudly serves on the boards of the WarChild Canada, the Canada Post Foundation, and the BlackNorth Initiative.
Mr. Orridge has been a featured speaker at Harvard Law School, Stanford University, Arizona State University, Ryerson’s Ted Rogers School of Management, Drexel University Law School, and University of New Brunswick among others. Based on lived experiences and having led transformational initiatives that promote business solutions and enhance corporate brands through alignment with diversity and inclusion goals, creativity, innovation, and strategic acumen, Jeffrey is seen as a thought leader in this area.
Possessing dual citizenship, he and his wife and two sons live in Toronto.
