Historica Canada President and CEO Anthony Wilson-Smith is the 2016 recipient of the Transformation Award.

Toronto, June 5, 2016 – Historica Canada President and CEO Anthony Wilson-Smith is the 2016 recipient of the Transformation Award in the Heritage category, presented by Diversity Magazine over the weekend.

The awards “focus on leadership, excellence and innovation through cross-cultural integration,” and are presented for 12 categories. Mr. Wilson-Smith’s award reflects Historica Canada’s engagement in promoting the contributions of Canadians of diverse backgrounds through such programs as its popular Heritage Minutes, Passages Canada, and the Canadian Citizenship Challenge.

“I accept this on behalf of our Board and staff at Historica Canada,” said Mr. Wilson-Smith. “We believe that Canada is a country that is most successful when we open ourselves to people of all origins who share the goal of making this a better place to live.” He added:  “We can’t understand Canada as it is today without examining the diverse experiences – both triumphs and challenges – that have occurred throughout our history.”

Mr. Wilson-Smith became CEO of Historica Canada in 2012. The organization is devoted to enhancing awareness of Canada’s history and citizenship. Its programs reach more than 8 million Canadians annually.  For more information, visit www.historicacanada.ca.
