With the rodeo at its heart, the Calgary Stampede is held every year in July.

In 1912, Guy Weadick gave life to a dream by organizing the first ever Calgary Stampede at Stampede Park. It was a huge success and it is a legacy that continues to this day.

Every July since 1923, the biggest western heritage show in the world takes place in Calgary, drawing millions to Southern Alberta for a true taste of Canadian life.

At the heart is a rodeo with prize money that ranks it at the top of the sport, along with steer wrestling, calf roping, saddle bronc riding, chuck wagon racing, and the toughest eight seconds in all of sport - bull riding.

For ten days each July, the heroics of the old-time cowboy graze Canada's prairies once again.
