Top Canadian Encyclopedia Articles by Province and Territory

Certain Canadian Encyclopedia entries are consistently popular across the country — Women’s Suffrage and the First and Second World Wars in particular. That’s all well and good, but I wanted to drill down a little bit further, so I pulled the top 25 articles for each province and territory, eliminated duplicates and each region’s own entry 1 to determine the entry most uniquely popular in each region.

There are some interesting anomalies. The most unique article to the Northwest Territories was the French entry for Alberta, for example, while Prince Edward Island’s most popular entry (after itself) is the IMAX Systems Corporation. Sure. Okay. Talk about breaking stereotypes.

  1. PEI’s top entry is PEI, so is Nova Scotia’s, etc. Would have made for a boring list.
